The Rev. Dr. Mary McDonald is a veterinarian, international aid worker, mentor, deacon, speaker, wife, mother, and author. She is co-founder of the Anglican Creation Care Network which exists to reclaim Christ as Creator by igniting, captivating, and equipping faithful stewards of Creation.
Mary is the author of the best-selling Starting and Running Your Horse Business. Her latest book,ย The Magnet: A Large Animal Veterinarian’s Journey, is aboutย her spiritual journey with Christ. She has a B.S. in Animal Science from Virginia Tech, a D.V.M. from Virginia/Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, and a MAR from Trinity Anglican Seminary. In the past, Dr. McDonald was an Adjunct Professor at Virginia Tech and Ignite Pacific (Biology/Creation Care). She was a Professor at the Rene Morales Veterinary School while living in Bolivia for three years.
She is on Associate staff with Christian Veterinary Mission, where she works in Bolivia, Uganda, and Sudan. Dr. McDonald is currently employed with the Society for Anglican Missionaries and Senders (SAMS). She runs her own business called Spend Yourselves, LLC, where she teaches a course called F.A.R.M., which stands for Farm Animal Refresher for Missions, which helps prepare people who are interested in helping others in developing countries by teaching basic farm animal handling and care.
Dr. McDonald lives with her husband on a historic farm in Virginia that they have restored. They demonstrate creation care principles, including a Conservation Easement. They have two married children, raise Scottish Highland cattle, and have horses.
