Admittedly, social media is usually a dumpster fire of outrage. However, on rare days, Twitter can help foster meaningful connections! (It’s even rarer on Facebook, just saying.)
June 01, 2018 was one such rare day. I posted the following Tweet:
Rookie Anglican update: I’m attempting to clarify our vision/purpose, vis-a-vis @Anglican_Pastor and LeaderWorks (led by @DHRoseberry and @KolbyKerr). Stay tuned for more exciting Anglican stuff in the days ahead!

I then received the following replies from Fr. Phillip Wilson:
I wonder what could be done for conversations around resources for bivocational Anglican clergy. If there’s a need, I’ll be willing to help.

I have been at it for four years now. Not saying I have it perfectly down but have a good handle. Would love to help strategize on content.

A big one that I had to learn was balance. Then how it becomes DNA of the church. Next is time management and then talk about job vs career.

Bi-Vocational Ministry Blog Series Will Start on Monday
Today, I’m happy to announce that we’re moving forward with this idea! Starting next week, on Monday, you’ll be able to read Fr. Phillip’s introductory post on “Connecting the Secular and the Sacred.”
We’d Love to Hear from You!
In the meantime, if you have any questions that you’d like Fr. Phillip (or others) to address about bi-vocational ministry, please ask them in the comments below!
I’m curious: What are some of the best jobs/careers out there for bivocational pastors?
I was just thinking about the possibilities of bivocational ministry as it is becoming more the norm in some regions and denominations.
Hey Brandon! If you have something specific you would like focused on, let me know.
Props to Philip for saying the words “I’ll be willing to help.” Well done!
what exactly is bi vocational ministry ?
Hi there Sheila! Sorry that I am just getting around to answering this. Bi-vocational ministry is typically where a minister serves the local church and also has another income earning job. In my case, the church does not offer income (I do get a stipend that I apply towards my education), so I work 40 hours a week in a local bank for my income. However, there could also be times where both supply partial income.
GREAT! I am looking forward to it! Thank you!
Question for consideration at some point: Is bi-vocational ministry actually one vocation? Could it be?
I’ve been called specifically to bi-vocational ministry since I was in college.
