We are pleased to announce that Fr Jack King will be joining us as a writer at Anglican Pastor. Fr Jack will be writing a blog here called The Poetry of Faith. The blog title is a nod to Denise Levertov’s poem “Poetics of Faith.” His first series, beginning in Lent will be “Lent with the Poets” and he will be writing for other channels from time to time as well. You will find him a thoughtful writer who will deepen your knowledge of both culture and devotion at the same time, with a prose style that is a joy to read.
Jack is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, and serves as rector of Apostles Anglican Church in his hometown. Before serving at Apostles, Jack served Methodist churches in Knoxville and Gateshead, England. In England, Jack discovered his love for the Anglican tradition that would later become his spiritual home. He was ordained an Anglican priest in 2008 on his 30th birthday. Jack is married to Emily and they have two young children. Jack received a B.A. in History from Samford University and a Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School.
He’s determined to make Austin Farrer a household name among Anglicans and loves discovering poet-pastors in the Anglican tradition.
Jack’s website is KnoxPriest.com and you may follow him on Twitter @knoxpriest. I will also be trying to get him to post some poetic quotes on our Anglican Pastor twitter @Anglican_Pastor.
Fr Jack eats Kashi Organic Promise Cinnamon Harvest Whole Wheat Biscuits for breakfast, and drinks only Peet’s Coffee.
