Summer Gross

Writer

Summer Joy Gross is a spiritual director, writer/poet, and ordained Anglican priest. These days Summer fits ministry in between homeschooling and soccer practice while her husband, Canon Andrew Gross, works on behalf of Archbishop Foley Beach. Together, Summer and Andrew love to tent camp (with a view), kayak the islands around Bar Harbor, and eat their way around the world. While she craves the barbecue of Atlanta, where they live, Summer is completely sure that heaven is a long table overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Her words and lectio divina videos find a home atย aThirstforGod.com.

Intentional silence, even for a mature Christian, can often feel either scary or superfluous. But when we make time for silence we are carving out space for transformation. My first experience of communal silence was on a visit to a French Benedictine monastery. It was a field trip from Canterbury to Le Bec Heloin the…

Iโ€™ve been a priest for 12 years and love being steeped in our rich, Anglican tradition. This year Iโ€™m doing a spiritual direction certificate and writing a monthly journal right here where Iโ€™ll be exploring how the spiritual disciplines can be a gift for our ancient-future church. Always first and forefront in my mind is…

Iโ€™m in North central Ohio for the week starting a spiritual direction certificate program. When I was ordained as an Anglican priest, I began doing spiritual direction off and on for parishioners and priests from other churches. Others may feel like just another part of a job, I always feel like taking off my shoes…
