Anglican Center of Theology and Formation: Spring Lecture

Anglican Liturgy & Sacraments with The Rev. Dr. Hans Boersma

Our Spring 2025 lecturer is an ACNA priest and Endowed Professor of Ascetical Theology at Nashotah House. He has emerged as a leading voice among Protestant and evangelical theologians exploring and appropriating the riches of the Catholic tradition. His interests range across a variety of areas: patristic theology, 20th century Catholic thought, and spiritual interpretation of Scripture. The retrieval of the Great Traditionโ€™s sacramental view of reality has been at the heart of his publications over the past fifteen years.

Dr. Boersmaโ€™s public lecture at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, entitled “Interpretation as Recapitulation,” promotes spiritual imagination as a catalyst for interpreting the OT writings in light of Christ. The medieval work, Bible of the Poor, is highlighted as an example of this interpretive method.

On Saturday, Dr. Boersma will provide a seminar from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for ACTF students, area clergy, and others on the topic, โ€œLectio Divina: Seeking the Face of God.โ€ The seminar will include two lectures, a catered lunch, and an early afternoon exercise in the practice of lectio divina.

The public is welcome to the Friday lecture and Saturday seminar (with RSVP). A freewill offering for ACTF will be collected.
