Kintsugi Workshop

Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese art that repairs broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Kintsugi, which translates to “golden joinery,” renders the vessel even more valuable than before it was broken.
Kintsugi Workshop leader Kurt Caddy is the founder of Fourwinds Faith and Art. Kurtโ€™s work is currently on exhibit in The Kairos Gallery at St. Andrew’s Mount Pleasant. His workshops demonstrate Kintsugiโ€™s powerful metaphor for redemption and healing. Just as the broken pottery is restored and made more beautiful through its cracks filled with gold, we are mended by Godโ€™s grace, filled with His Spirit, and the broken areas of our lives transformed into sources of strength and beauty. Our experiences and scars contribute to our unique stories, reminding us that even in brokenness, there is hope and beauty, and the possibility of becoming whole again, embracing and celebrating our journey, imperfections and all.
Under Kurtโ€™s instruction and guidance, participants will create their own Kintsugi bowl to take home. All supplies are included in the workshop fee of $60 per person. Two workshops are available, one at 9:00-11:30AM and another at 1:00-3:30PM. Space is limited to 25 people per workshop. Childcare is available at the 1:00 session.
