The Rookie Anglican Fund: A Hand Up to the Next Generation
This June, we are launching the Rookie Anglican Fund, a monthly giving program to help support our Rookie Anglican content and warmly welcome the next generation into the Anglican tradition.
A new generation is discovering Anglicanism, and many are finding their first steps through Anglican Compass. For three straight years, we have seen double-digit growth, and we are now reaching more than 100,000 views each month from people looking for trustworthy, accessible guidance.
A Trusted Resource
For many years, our most popular content has been our Rookie Anglican Guides. These articles offer friendly, accessible introductions to Anglican history, theology, liturgy, and practice for those who are just beginning to explore our tradition. At a time when many are coming to Anglicanism from other traditions, these guides are meeting a real and growing need.
Though they make up less than 10% of our articles, Rookie Anglican Guides account for roughly 25% of our traffic. They rank highly in Google Search and are increasingly cited by major AI platforms. More importantly, they have become a trusted doorway into the Anglican tradition for many people seeking clarity.
The Strategy
When a publication discovers a successful category, the typical approach is to monetize it by putting it behind a paywall or shifting it to a subscription newsletter. But we do not want to place barriers in front of people who are just beginning to explore the Anglican way. Newcomers need room to ask questions, take their time, and be met with generosity before they can make any commitment. That is why we are inviting donors to help keep these resources free.
So our strategy is simple. It has three parts:
- Produce new Rookie Anglican Guides and refresh our archive to make existing guides even better.
- Continue to offer all of our Rookie Anglican Guides for free.
- Invite readers to pay it forward, to serve the rookies of the next generation.
The Need
Our articles might be free, but they are not free to produce. Each guide is the fruit of writing, editing, publishing, and ongoing technical support.
The sustainable rate for publishing a new article on Anglican Compass is around $800–$1,200, depending on length and category. This includes editorial, technical, promotional, and administrative support. Comparatively, this is a highly efficient cost structure.
Sponsor an Article
You can sponsor an article with a monthly gift of $100 or a one-time gift of $1,000. If those levels are not right for you, please know that any gift will help. Together, your gifts make it possible for us to keep serving new Anglicans with clarity and charity.
When you give to the Rookie Anglican fund, you are also welcome to suggest a topic you would like to see addressed in a future article. We are eager to receive your ideas as we continue building resources that can guide and encourage rookie Anglicans.
