Pastor, Do You Need a Coach? Consider Missional Formation Coaching

The Pandemic Pastor

Ministry life can be overwhelming at any time, but with a pandemic, the pressure is even greater. I’ve been working with pastors as a canon for the past eight years, but this past year has been the most stressful for pastors I’ve ever seen.

When I experienced burnout ten years ago, I had many supporters who helped me find renewal. Pastors and leaders need trusted support to maintain a well and healthy soul. I could not have recovered without the help of others. That’s why I feel called now to be a pastor to pastors and leaders.

Missional Formation Coaching

As I was reaching out to learn more about how to serve in this way, Winfield Bevins and Mark Dunwoody told me about Missional Formation Coaching. Missional Formation Coaching is designed to help leaders thrive by promoting healthy rhythms that connect spiritual and missional practices. Missional Formation training is for everyone, but there is also a new training for those who are called to a ministry of coaching.

Like anyone, we pastors can become lonely, frustrated, or confused, and we need support and resources to help us navigate those experiences. Like anyone, we can get stalled out under the pressures of everyday life and ministry. Good, trusted, Christ-centered coaching and great resources can be a part of helping us re-form as we serve on mission.

Posts for Pastors and Leaders

We also need good resources. So we’re going to be posting even more articles and resources here at Anglican Compass for pastors and leaders. We’ll be discussing (and sharing helpful resources about) topics like:

  • Sabbath-keeping
  • Graceful self-examination
  • Recovery and renewal
  • Family life
  • Ministry practices
  • Leadership habits
  • Solitude and silence
  • Daily Office
  • Hobbies and Relaxation
  • Friendship
  • Rule of Life
  • Habits for health
  • Counseling
  • Relationships
  • Coaching
  • Conflict
  • Resentment

I want to share my own story with you along the way, and I would love to hear from you as well. If you have a topic you would like to hear about, or a resource you would like to share, email me at [email protected].

You can see below that, as part of this effort, I am starting a pastor-to-pastor ministry. Check it out!

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

May the peace of Christ be with you,

Pastors and leaders want to be well and serve well, but trusted support for self-care is difficult to find. I offer Missional Formation coaching and consulting. For more information, or email me at [email protected]
