True North 2025: An Appeal for Anglican Compass
Each December, we ask for gifts to our TRUE NORTH campaign. Help us point to Jesus through the riches of the Anglican tradition. This year, every gift up to $12,000 will be matched, for a total of $24,000! Our matching fund is put up by David Roseberry at Leaderworks, who both contributes to Anglican Compass and writes on Substack as “The Anglican.” Give $100, and we will receive $200. Would you prayerfully consider a year-end gift or a monthly commitment? Click here to give now.
2025 in Review
This year, we have published nearly 200 articles, and our site has been visited more than 1,000,000 times (up 15% year over year). Numbers are not everything, but they do demonstrate the growing reach of our ministry.
Moreover, none of these articles is behind a paywall; they remain free to read. This is an intentional decision driven by the logic of our ministry. If we monetized our traffic through a paywall, it would prevent newcomers from finding essential articles for their own spiritual journey.
Most of all, we are proud of the quality of our content. Our active authors, who this year have grown to more than 40, are writing excellent articles that advance the Anglican tradition through our ethos of clarity and charity.
Here is a selection of this year’s articles, organized by category.
The Nicene Creed
For the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea, we featured more than 20 articles on the Nicene Creed, offering in-depth analysis of its individual clauses. This series, titled “We Believe,” will be helpful for years to come for anyone who wants to learn in greater depth the contours of our trinitarian faith.
Rookie Anglican
Our bread and butter is our core content for “Rookie Anglicans,” written especially for those who are brand new to the Anglican tradition. New folks find answers here, and churches use this content in their welcome and discipleship ministries. This year, we added excellent additions to our Rookie Anglican library.
In the News
Although Anglican Compass is not a newspaper, we do publish articles of enduring value that illuminate the events of the day. This year, there were significant events that we reflected on, from assassinations to the selection of a female Archbishop of Canterbury, to the selection of a new pope, and the practice of judicial discipline in the church.
Book Reviews
This fall, we launched a new category of Book Reviews under the direction of our new Book Review Editor, the Rev. Dr. Daniel Gullotta. We are already building a wonderful collection of reviews by a great set of authors, including multiple who are new to the site.
Spirituality
Anglicanism is deeply shaped by the spirituality of the scriptures and the Book of Common Prayer. We feature content that provides resources for the deepening of our spiritual lives.
Family and Children
As Biblical Christians, we are committed to God’s design for marriage and family. We defend their Biblical basis, and also celebrate the ways that families can live out the Anglican faith.
Anglicans on YouTube
This year, our own Jesse Nigro did a deep dive into prominent Anglican voices on YouTube. In a time when so many are getting theology in this new format, we highlight a new generation of influential voices.
Missions
The church is called to reach all nations with the gospel. In that spirit, we highlight various aspects of national and global missions, including content relating to the Global Anglican Communion.
Pastor
Anglican clergy represent a sizable subset of our readership. We produce resources that help clergy think through various aspects of their ministry, from preaching to church strategy to pastoral ministry to continuing education. This content is also excellent for those exploring the ordination process.
Arts & Culture
As always, we feature content that explores the uniquely Anglican ethos of beauty. Our Arts & Culture page is populated especially by Elizabeth Demmon, who covers Arts & Culture initiatives across the whole province.
Books
Finally, it’s been a great year in book publishing!
Ashley Wallace added “Ordinary Time” to her Liturgical Home series. Justin Clemente made his debut with “At the Cross: Reflections on the Stations of the Cross.” And we reprinted “A Garden Enclosed: Practical Studies in Religious Life.”
All three volumes were #1 New Releases on Amazon! And we have multiple books projects in process for the coming year!
